2024-2025 Fundraising Initiatives

Each year, we raise contributions to fund the PTA’s budget for the following school year. For the 2024-2025 school year, our PTA board is still working to determine our final fundraising goal. At present, we estimate we’ll need to raise $85,000 to fully fund our budget for the 2025-2026 school year. Depending on our spending for this year, we may need to raise less.

During the school year, there are three main fundraisers for parents, friends, grandparents, and our extended community to support the Sacajawea Elementary PTA. This year, we’re starting off with our Virtual Move-a-Thon, and we’ll play it by ear the rest of the year.

Move-a-Thon (In-Person)

Goal: $30,000

Date: TBD

The more your kids move, the more programs our PTA can offer our school!

This is a great way to reach out to friends and family to involve them in your child’s education.

Look for a letter in your child’s take-home packet.

Community Celebration & Auction

Goal: $25,000

Date: April 2025

This year, we’ll be celebrating with our entire community at a dinner event held at Sacajawea. To help us raise funds, we’ll hold an online auction in conjunction with the event.

Book Fair

Date: TDB

We invite you to visit the Sacajawea Virtual Book Fair - an exciting celebration of reading with hundreds of fun, engaging, affordable books for kids to discover.

Why is this fundraising even necessary?

Washington state’s public education system is drastically underfunded. To make up for this shortfall, public schools rely on their communities to support schools with both volunteers and financial giving for even basic programs.

The Sacajawea Elementary School community has a strong tradition of parent involvement in terms of volunteering and financial support.

How is the PTA helping to close our funding gap?

Last year over 100 parents, teachers, staff and students came together to volunteer on numerous school improvement projects. We also met our fundraising goal (and had a high parent participation rate), ensuring continued essential support of key programs.

We’d like to continue last year’s success so that we can expand the list of programs and services the PTA supports, such as funding school supplies for the entire school for the entire year, updating our classroom libraries, fully funding field trips, additional curriculum enrichment and more!

Coming together as a community is both rewarding and a lot of fun as we improve our children’s education and build a strong foundation for their future.

What can you do?

Volunteer your time. Help Sacajawea beyond just giving money. There are many volunteering opportunities to fit your time and interests.

Become a room parent. Room parents provide classroom support and are critical to overall fundraising and community success and serve as liaisons between teachers and families, coordinate parents for class projects, activities and field trips.

Come to PTA meetings. All PTA board and general meetings are open to the entire Sacajawea community. Look for meeting dates in your newsletters and on the sign board. Join us if you can!
